Army ACHA D2 Weekend Preview: @ Rider University and TCNJ

The Army West Point ACHA D2 team looks to rebound from their season-opening loss to Delaware this weekend. The Black Knights are taking a quick jaunt down to New Jersey to take on Rider University tonight at 9:10pm ET, followed by The College of New Jersey on Saturday at 3pm ET.

Army should have a slight edge tonight, as the Rider University Broncs are opening their 2019-20 season against the Black Knights. Meanwhile, Army has one game under their belt which has revealed some adjustments to be made heading into this weekend. Like Delaware, Rider is a familiar opponent as the Broncs and the Black Knights clashed during Army’s foray in the MACH league.

Rider and Army did not meet in the 2018-19 season, but the Broncs finished up 19-5-0 and earned a trip to the ACHA D2 Regionals before falling to NC State, 7-6, in the first round. Expect an exciting, fast-paced game as Rider will no doubt seek to build on their success from last season.

On Saturday, Army will face off against The College of New Jersey Lions right about the same time the Army football team finishes up against Morgan State. The Lions already have three games under their belt and will add their fourth tonight prior to playing Army. TCNJ sits at 1-2-0 currently with a season-opening win against Princeton followed by losses to Temple’s ACHA D1 team and Delaware.

The Lions also enjoyed a successful 2018-19 season which saw them finish 17-11-0-1 in the regular season followed by a CSCHC tournament championship. TCNJ then advanced to the second round of the ACHA D2 Regionals where they were eliminated by the powerhouse Liberty University Flames.

The Army Club Hockey Team has their work cut out for them this weekend, but both games should feature fast-paced, high-energy hockey. Make sure to follow the Army ACHA D2 Hockey Team on Twitter where they usually post game updates!
